John Beasley

Education Consultant and trainer of the ‘Perfect Ofsted’ book series

John is a freelance educational consultant and teacher trainer, renowned for his dynamic and practical training sessions. Married to Jackie Beere OBE, he has helped in the production of her books including the best-selling ‘The Perfect (Ofsted) Lesson’ and is editor of ‘The Perfect Teacher.’ He is now writing ‘The Perfect (Ofsted) Science Lesson.

John has had a successful 25 year career teaching science in secondary schools leading to posts as Head of Science and Deputy Headteacher. He now works with schools delivering INSET on topics such as:

‘The Perfect (Ofsted) Lesson’, ‘Effective AfL’, ‘Coaching for Improvement’, ‘Preparing for Inspection’ and ‘Performance Management’.

These interactive, practical training events give guidance on the habits and mindsets of great learners, underpinned by research evidence. They also contain advice on engaging starters, motivational lesson activities and effective plenaries and show how to give feedback which really works to improve progress. His coaching course shows how school leaders and teachers can transform their practice through brief, effective coaching sessions. All of these popular INSET sessions are closely referenced to good practice advice from Ofsted.

John has also worked for Canterbury Christ Church and Middlesex Universities on initial teacher training and for Hibernia College on the novel elearn ITT course. Through supporting and assessing trainee teachers, John has become an expert in targeted lesson observations. He has used this very effectively in science (and other) faculties who have found his feedback and opinions on staff performance to be very accurate and insightful.
